TL;DR: This guide walks you through how to create a Claude brand skill — a reusable design system that automatically applies your colors, fonts, logo, and layout rules to every PDF, presentation, and document you create in Claude. Whether you’re a consultant, creator, freelancer, or business owner, this is how you build AI visual brand consistency into your workflow in a single conversation.

I create a lot of stuff with Claude. Proposals for clients, presentations, lead magnets, PDF guides for these articles, one-pagers, reports. But every document looked different from the last one, and none of them looked like AI blew my mind.

So I wanted a visual brand identity across everything I create. Same colors, same fonts, same spacing, same feel. Consistent and recognizable.

To get there, I started playing with Claude. I showed it my existing stuff, told it what I liked and didn’t like, gave it a bunch more references, iterated on layouts, went back and forth on card styles and spacing. It took rounds. The PDF rendering gave me trouble at first, but I eventually found the fix.

After enough iterations, I had a working visual brand system, packaged into a Claude skill so it applies automatically to everything I ask Claude to create.

Here's a video demo of my Claude brand skill in action:

Once I had it, I mentioned it in the AI blew my mind chat.

A lot of you reacted that this would be super helpful. So that’s what we’re doing today.

I took my process and turned it into one master prompt that handles everything.

You paste it, Claude walks you through the choices, builds your brand system, and packages it into a reusable skill. The bugs I hit with rendering are already fixed in the prompt. Your version will be much shorter than mine was.

Whether you’re starting from scratch, have a logo and some colors, or already have a full brand you want to turn into a Claude skill, this works.

This prompt is also inside the AI Blew My Mind MCP. If you’ve already connected it, just ask Claude to build your brand skill and it’ll pull the prompt for you.

Before and after: what a Claude Brand Skill changes

Before and after using a Claude brand skill: a PDF cheat sheet with generic default styling on the left compared to the same content with a consistent branded design on the right, showing how a brand skill automatically applies colors, fonts, logo, and layout.

Without a brand skill: You ask Claude to create a presentation or a PDF. It comes out with default styling. Generic fonts, no colors, no visual identity. From here you either leave it as-is and send something that looks like every other AI-generated document, or you export it and open Canva or Google Slides to manually add your colors, swap the fonts, fix the layout, place your logo. That's another 30 minutes to an hour on something that was supposed to save you time. (If you haven't tried creating documents in Claude yet, start here.)

With a brand skill: You tell Claude what the content should be. That’s it. The presentation, PDF, or doc comes out on brand. Your colors, your fonts, your spacing, your logo, your layout patterns. You might still iterate on the content or tweak a detail, but the brand is already there. No more styling from scratch.

And with computer use, you can take it even further. Let Claude open your apps, create the document, and deliver it on brand while you do something else.

Who should create a brand skill (and what to prepare)

This is useful whether you're a consultant sending proposals and client deliverables, a creator publishing PDFs and lead magnets, a business owner who needs consistent materials, a freelancer who wants to look professional without hiring a designer, or part of a team where documents should look cohesive across departments. (Not sure what else you can do with Claude skills? Here are 37 real examples from 23 creators.)

You don’t need design experience. You need opinions. “I like this but not that”. And it works no matter where you’re starting from:

  • Starting from scratch? No logo, no colors, nothing. Claude asks about your business, shows you style directions, and suggests color palettes and font pairings.

    • Prepare: find 1-3 examples of decks, PDFs, websites, or any visuals whose style you like. Claude works much better when it has references to react to.

  • Have some basics? Maybe a logo, a couple of colors, some documents you’ve created before. Claude builds on what you’ve got and fills in the gaps.

    • Prepare: gather what you have. Upload the logo, find the fonts and hex codes if you know them, pull together a few examples of things you've created. Also bring any references from other brands whose style you like.

  • Already have a full brand? Claude extracts everything from your existing materials and website and turns it into a skill. From that point on, it’s a repeatable process. Every document comes out on brand without you spending time on it.

    • Prepare: get your logo, your brand colors and fonts, your website URL, and 3-5 examples of materials you’ve already created.

What you'll build: a complete brand design system in Claude

By the end of this process, you’ll have three things:

  1. A complete visual style system. Colors, font pairings, spacing rules, corner styles, shadows, layout patterns, dark and light mode versions, and a “never do this” list that Claude respects every time.

  2. Sample assets across multiple formats. A branded PDF, presentation, and Word doc using the same content so you can compare. You iterate on these until you’re happy before packaging it into a skill.

  3. A packaged brand Claude skill. A SKILL.md file bundled with your logo that you upload once. From that point on, everything you ask Claude to create comes out on brand automatically.

How the Brand Skill creation process works

This happens in two phases.

Phase 1: Brand discovery and extraction. You paste the prompt I'll give you into Claude. It figures out what you have, extracts your visual brand DNA, walks you through design choices with visual examples, builds sample documents, and iterates until you're happy. Then it packages everything into a reusable skill. One conversation.

Or even faster if you use the AI Blew My Mind MCP, where the prompt is already loaded.

Phase 2: Install and use. You upload the skill, test it, and every document you make from that point forward comes out on brand.

Phase 1 is where all the work happens. Let’s get into it.

If you want to see what becomes possible once your brand skill is built, I used mine to create polished lead magnets in 5 minutes — from article to branded PDF to promotional post, all in one conversation. And if you want to go even further, your brand skill is one of the building blocks in this 20-prompt roadmap for building a side hustle with AI from scratch.

Phase 1: Build your Claude Brand Skill with one prompt (copy-paste ready)

This is the prompt I wish I had when I started:

Scrolling through the full six-page brand design system prompt for Claude, showing the complete step-by-step instructions that guide you from brand discovery to a finished reusable skill.

Instead of going back and forth figuring out the right steps, you paste this once and Claude handles the entire process.

Click the button below, copy the prompt, paste it into Claude, and follow along. Or if you’ve connected the AI Blew My Mind MCP, just ask Claude to build your brand skill and skip the copy-pasting. By the end of the conversation, your brand is packaged into a skill you can reuse forever.
